What is this blog about?
This blog is for the bloke on the street who wants to get into 3D Printing, 3D Manufacturing and 3D Fabrication. I aim at printers that are aimed for the domestic market and thusly are non-commercial . I also have a particular interest in Biological applications of 3D printers, so I will include commercial applications of this technology.
How often do you post?
Every Australian Business Day. i.e. Monday to Friday.
How do you make money off the blog?
Currently I am self funding this blog. If there is a way to make money off the blog without upsetting too many visitors I will consider it.
Where is 3D Printing Technology at the the moment?
I think the technology is quite mature in the corporate sector. 3D printing (sometimes called fast prototyping) is considered a standard way of manufacturing parts for testing or for production.
As for the domestic uses of 3D printers, we are at the beginning of a new phase of manufacturing. There are a number of challenges. I hope in our lifetimes, we will be able to print any kitchen appliance on our desk. This blog aims at tracking that advance in technology.
What’s the deal with the “Blender” motto?
One day, I truly want to print a food blender out using a 3D printer on my desk. I don’t mind doing some manual assembly, but it should be easy to do with nice instructions. I want a 3D printer that is cost effective and prints using multiple materials with a minimum of fuss. I see myself downloading a torrent of the open source blender, uploading it into the Printer Software, hitting print and having a nice glass of Unwooded Chardonnay while I await my new blender.
